Chu is Vice President of the Corporate Technology Group of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, and Executive Vice President of the Business System Integration Center of Texas Instruments. Chu is also an adjunct professor at National Taiwan University and a visiting professor at University of Texas at Austin. Chin-Ning Chu has over 100 technical publications and patents in the fields of photonic devices, microelectronics, and nanotechnology.
He has been elected to many distinguished organizations, including Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, Fellow of IEEE, Fellow of Eta Kappa Nu, Fellow of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Distinguished Lecturer by ACM Computer Society (ACM CS), and Honorary Doctorate by the University of Texas.
